Friday the 3rd May saw a visit from a very special lady. Ann Chapple was a pupil at Stover from 1940 to 1944 and spent a couple hours sharing her happy time here at the school. Joined by her own children we toured the grounds listening to her anecdotes from her time here. From ice-skating on the frozen lake to performing ‘The Tempest’ on the grass beside Mansion House the happy memories kept coming. We saw where she slept back in 1940 through the days of blackouts and heard of the trouble she got into for reading with a torch under her eiderdown! Ann spoke so warmly of Phyllis Dence, her very own Head Mistress.

Ann met some current year seven pupils and was thrilled when Fergus gave her a precious gift, an embroidery project he had made of a Motte and Bailey castle. We all enjoyed tea together and were joined by the Head, Richard Notman, Helen Notman, Dr Stone, Mr Mooney, Mr Partridge and Mrs Hall.
