STEP 1 – SCHOOL VISIT

If you are considering joining Stover, the first step is to come and see what makes us special. We will arrange a visit to the School which will include a tour and if required, a meeting with the Headmaster, Mr Notman or the Head of the Preparatory School, Mr Noble.

Open Days

STEP 2 – TASTER

Tasters are an opportunity for prospective pupils to experience a day with their peers, to put them at ease and give them a feel for life at Stover. Taster day assessments are considered alongside your child’s current school report before an offer of a place is made. A single day is normally sufficient although tasters of up to a week can be arranged. If you are considering boarding we can also offer a sleepover to get a real feel for the family atmosphere we have at Stover. For prospective Year 7 pupils we run a Senior School taster day in November. Alternatively children can spend time with their current year group in the Preparatory School.

The aim of the admissions process is to identify potential. Stover School seeks to admit well rounded pupils with a genuine interest in education in the broadest sense of the word, with interests that stretch beyond the confines of the academic curriculum. As well as academic achievement, the school has strong traditions in Music, Drama, Art, Outdoor Pursuits, community activities and Sport. There are many extra-curricular activities, all of which are important in developing a well-balanced, confident individual.

STEP 3 – REGISTRATION

To enter the School we require a completed registration form, recent school reports, copy of either a birth certificate or passport and a non-refundable Registration Fee of £100. Applications can be received throughout the year. The registration form must be signed by every person who has parental responsibility for the applicant.

STEP 4 – OFFER OF A PLACE

Once your application has been approved, we will write to you offering your child a place and confirming their start date. We request a refundable deposit of £400 for day pupils or £750 for boarders, and that our Acceptance of Parent Contract forms be completed and returned prior to your child starting at Stover. A place will be reserved for your child for a limited amount of time, which is detailed on the offer letter. Once your place has been accepted a welcome pack containing more information and various consent forms will be sent out shortly before the start date, required back before the first day of school.

STEP 5 – STARTING AT THE SCHOOL

Subject to a place being available, start dates can be arranged at a time to suit your family, although most pupils join us at the beginning of a term. Details of how to purchase your uniform will be sent to you prior to this date.

INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS

If you are unable to visit the school in person, an online interview will be arranged with the Headmaster, Mr Richard Notman. All applicants also sit an English and Mathematics entry paper to ensure that they have the skills and potential to benefit from the education offered at Stover School.

NURSERY

Joining our Nursery is a very simple process. We are happy to arrange a tour with our Nursery Manager. These are normally on a Wednesday. Should you wish your child to join they should be registered with details of what sessions are required. If these are available a formal offer of a place will be made. The place is confirmed by returning the acceptance form and paying a refundable £250 deposit. Our Nursery is extremely popular and usually fully booked over a year in advance, so we would encourage early registration.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships are available for Senior School entry and are held in November for Year 11 pupils who will progress to the Sixth Form the following September, and January for Year 6 pupils who will progress to Year 7, and Year 8 who will progress to Year 9. We offer Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sports Scholarships. The level of financial dispensation offered with a Scholarship ranges from 5% to 15% of basic fees.

BURSARIES

If your child would benefit from an education at Stover but your family is not in a position to cover the full fees, then a Bursary can be applied for via Mr Jenkins, the School Bursar. If you have applied for a bursary we would recommend that any place that has been offered is not accepted until the bursary has been confirmed in writing.
