I took a gap year after leaving Stover to work and hike Everest Base Camp (inspired by the school trip to Annapurna base camp), before going to Cardiff University to study Medicine. Afterwards, I wanted to be closer to the mountains so moved to North Wales for foundation training. It was a gorgeous place to live and I spent three years there before wanting to try a bigger adventure (and escape covid after working on the covid wards for a year), so moved to New Zealand two years ago. I’ve ironically ended up in New Plymouth, which is a gorgeous seaside town with a very iconic mountain. I’d started a distance learning masters degree in Healthcare Ethics and Law before leaving the UK, but managed to complete it from NZ. So now, I’m training to be psychiatrist whilst spending my weekends hiking, skiing and surfing (although I’m struggling to graduate from the white water). I haven’t yet decided if I’m returning to the UK, every-time I consider it, I discover more adventures to have out here.
