What an awesome day of rugby for the U13 boys’ team at the South Devon Schools Festival! The boys were outstanding from start to finish, playing as a cohesive unit and showing superb teamwork throughout. Every player made a valuable contribution to the team’s success, culminating in an unbeaten run to the title, made even more impressive without conceding a try all day!
The team played an exciting and expansive brand of rugby, combining solid defence with width and creativity in attack. From the opening whistle, their intent was clear – Will L’s first tackle of the first game set the tone for the day, laying down a marker for the team’s physicality and commitment.
There were plenty of standout moments: Oakley H’s brilliant dummy that opened up the defence to score in the final, Sam J’s crucial turnover in the final, Hugo K’s tireless work rate around the field complemented by some powerful carries, and Billy F’s ferocious tackling. Oakley H and Will L also made last-ditch tackles in the final, which were true highlights of the day and epitomised the team’s relentless work ethic and determination.
A superb all-round performance from every player, a thoroughly deserved victory and a proud day for Stover School!
