We offer pupils the opportunity to engage with a dynamic and forward-thinking STEM curriculum that equips them with essential skills for the future. Our STEM courses are designed to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, while also fostering creativity and innovation. With hands-on projects and real-world applications, pupils are encouraged to explore the interconnections between these fields, setting them up for success in a wide range of careers and further study.

Science
At Stover, we encourage the study of science using a narrative based approach where ideas are introduced with relevant and interesting settings. This helps pupils to link their knowledge to familiar concepts.
Pollination
Year Seven Act out the process of pollination with Dr Stone.
Science is a rewarding subject for pupils who have a keen interest in the natural world around them, and for those who want to develop an analytical and measured approach to problem solving. Science education gives children the opportunity to gain a better knowledge of how and why things function.

Maths
Mathematics is an amazing and diverse subject. It is far more than the study of numbers; it enables us to see patterns, make new discoveries and find links to the world around us.
The aims of the course encourage pupils to gain confidence, and develop a positive attitude towards Mathematics and to recognise its importance in their own lives and to society. This qualification prepares pupils to make informed decisions about the use of technology, the management of money, further learning opportunities and careers.

Computer Science
The industry continues to advance rapidly and the way that technology is consumed has also been changing at a fast pace over recent years. It is a discipline that is increasingly used in other fields, such as science and engineering; and those with a Computer Science background have a distinct advantage.
The exponential growth in the use of mobile devices and web-related technologies has resulted in new challenges for employers and employees. Pupils studying Computer Science will learn the fundamental concepts of creating software applications using Python, as well as appreciating the need for multiple platforms such as mobile devices and web-enabled environments. E-Safety is also a significant part of the course, especially in the lower years of the school.
GCSE Computer Science has been designed to meet the demands of a modern and evolving computer science industry and educational sphere. It covers a range of topics including architecture, data storage, systems software and network security, as well as programming and computational methods. The skills developed in this subject, such as algorithmic thinking and problem solving, are transferable to many other disciplines.
Food Technology & Nutrition
The UK’s food and drink industry is the country’s biggest manufacturing sector by turnover, valued at £104.4 billion. This GCSE enables pupils to develop a thorough understanding of nutrition, food provenance and the working characteristics of food materials whilst enhancing their cookery skills.
We also offer a Hospitality & Catering Level 1 or 2 vocational award. Hospitality is the 3rd largest private sector employer in the UK. This award will develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the Hospitality and Catering sector and provide them with opportunities to develop associated practical skills.
